The dairy industry is both energy-intensive and particularly demanding when it comes to cooling and heating. A solution that convinces with quality, efficiency and climate friendliness is therefore essential. How ENGIE Refrigeration manages this task for a specialist in drying and evaporating technology with a thermeco2 high-temperature heat pump and ensures sustainable dairy production in the process, Frank Glaser, Key Account Manager Industrial & Commercial Heating, reveals in an interview.
Due to their environmental impact, refrigeration systems and heat pumps have faced increased scrutiny from environmental organisations, governments and the public for some time. Debate has centred on the greenhouse effect of refrigerants, not least because of planned amendments to the F-Gas Regulation, which will make it more stringent. However, the climate relevance of chillers and heat pumps can only be properly assessed with the help of an ecological balance sheet that includes the entire greenhouse effect of the systems. One popular method of holistic ecological assessment is provided by the TEWI value.
There are many chillers, but SPECTRUM Water only exists once. The model is unique in its performance range – this is ensured by the sophisticated product features. What precise added value does this offer to users?
The heating transition starts in buildings. This means that cities and municipalities, with their large number of buildings, play a crucial role on the path to carbon neutrality. What’s the best way to structure the energy transition and heating transition as soon as possible and as successfully as possible? Large heat pumps such as the SPECTRUM Water and thermeco2 can make an important contribution to this endeavour
Food production is one of the most sensitive industries. In this sector, heating supply requirements are particularly exacting. What reliable solutions does ENGIE Refrigeration provide to meet these requirements? The expert Frank Glaser, a key account manager for industrial and commercial heating at ENGIE Refrigeration, explains using the Osatina Group as an example.
What does the heat supply of the future look like? An interdisciplinary team at ENGIE Refrigeration has been focussing on this question for the past few months. The result: our new SPECTRUM Water heat pump, which has been available worldwide since 28 March 2022. Our employees explain the product characteristics and special benefits of this model in our ‘on point.’ magazine.
Beethoven could never have imagined this: artificial intelligence (AI) has now completed his ‘unfinished’ 10th symphony. AI has already been used to complete compositions by Gustav Mahler and Franz Schubert. Applications involving artificial intelligence are finding their way into more and more parts of our lives – and providing entirely new opportunities. ENGIE Refrigeration is ready for the future: we asked our expert Jörn Stiegelmeier, head of technology and development, about the smart refrigeration and heating solutions our users can look forward to.
From producing companies and data centres to hospitals and hotels: wherever companies use refrigeration on an industrial scale, they produce valuable waste heat. Anyone who utilises this waste heat saves energy, lowers operating costs and protects the environment – a real win-win-win situation. With its smart chillers with heat recovery, ENGIE Refrigeration assists businesses on their path to greater efficiency and sustainability.
For which areas are applications with heat recovery suitable ? And how does this technology help operating companies lower their costs? Our expert Markus Enzensperger answers these questions in our interview.
What distinguishes the thermeco2 high-temperature heat pump from ENGIE Refrigeration? For which applications is it especially suitable – and how can this model save money in buildings, districts and industry? The expert Frank Glaser, a key account manager for industrial and commercial heating at ENGIE Refrigeration, explains all this in our interview.
How can data centres become more green? Ludwigsburg District Office asked itself that very question in relation to its in-house data centre. It found its answer with ENGIE Refrigeration. A machine type HHR 130 thermeco2 high-temperature heat pump with refrigeration now provides sustainable server cooling on site.
Precise cooling with very narrow temperature tolerances and the smallest possible carbon footprint: for many planners and operators, this describes their perfect refrigeration supply. ENGIE Refrigeration meets these requirements in a sustainable manner with its AMONUM chiller. This model uses the natural refrigerant ammonia and is thus extremely eco-friendly.
The QUANTUM chillers from ENGIE Refrigeration are famous around the world: for almost 20 years, both the air-cooled and the water-cooled models have continued to set new benchmarks on the international refrigeration market. The secret of their success? It’s quite simple: ENGIE Refrigeration is constantly refining its QUANTUM chillers – and thus keeps achieving new benchmarks in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability.
Efficient, energy-saving and eco-friendly: thermeco2 high-temperature heat pumps from ENGIE Refrigeration are the number one choice for users when it comes to sustainable heating. The models feature combined heating and cooling, which guarantees maximum efficiency and excellent COP values. This is how thermeco2 high-temperature heat pumps are assisting industrial businesses and city districts in particular on their path to carbon neutrality.
Acting sustainably helps us secure the future of our planet. In particular, energy-intensive industries – among them the refrigeration technology industry – need to contribute towards more sustainability. Chillers are essential here, as they are distinguished by high energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. We at ENGIE Refrigeration are aware of this important task!
Energy efficiency is incredibly important when it comes to improving climate protection, especially in the energy-intensive industry of refrigeration and climate control technology. ENGIE is making a considerable contribution towards greater sustainability with its new QUANTUM Air generation 4.0 chillers, and has taken a pioneering role in the refrigeration industry with its highly efficient chillers.
In 2015, Ecoform Multifol Verpackungsfolien GmbH & Co. KG asked Duschl Ingenieure to design the new refrigeration supply for its business. For several years, the refrigeration centre has contained two water-cooled QUANTUM chillers with magnetic-bearing turbo compressors.
The EU regulates the minimum energy efficiency limit values for chillers that are used for process cooling and climate control. The regulation is related to the EU Ecodesign Directive. This directive in turn regulates the design of products that are relevant to energy consumption. What exactly has changed for owners?
CO2 is a natural refrigerant that is especially suitable for efficiently operating hot and cold thermal storage units. And it is exceptionally safe to use. CO2 – with the technical name R-744 – is assigned to safety class A1 because it is neither toxic nor flammable. Jörn Stiegelmeier, head of technology and development at ENGIE Refrigeration, answers common questions about CO2 as a refrigerant.
CO2 heat pumps use energy from the environment to generate heat. Non-flammable carbon dioxide is an exceptionally eco-friendly refrigerant, so CO2 heat pumps can considerably reduce harmful emissions. CO2 is also an excellent refrigerant because it is not flammable and there is an abundance of it on earth.
The F-gas Regulation issued by the European Union confronts the refrigeration industry with major challenges. Its mission: to move away from fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and towards climate-friendly refrigeration. In this article you will learn more about the legal regulation and about future-proof refrigeration solutions.
The natural refrigerant CO2 is kind to the environment and exceptionally safe to use – and it has several other advantages. You will find more details in our expert interview!
QUANTUM Air chillers are highly efficient and sustainable refrigeration solutions for many industries. And the new generation of air-cooled chillers now offers even more: the overhauled models are suitable for applications from 250 kilowatts to 2 megawatts. This makes them even more powerful than their predecessor, and the most powerful solution on the international market for air-cooled chillers with magnetic-bearing compressor technology. The new QUANTUM Air models are available worldwide from 24 July 2019.
