Sophisticated infrastructure in your data center? This is one of our areas of expertise. At a German data center campus, we provide reliable climate control for server rooms and other sensitive areas with our cooling and heating solutions.
Chillers are an integral part of the infrastructure in data centers. In IT buildings, air conditioning for server rooms, battery rooms, and other technical applications is not a luxury, but rather a prerequisite for operation. As part of large data halls, server rooms generate enormous amounts of waste heat. Highly reliable refrigeration technology is needed to dissipate this heat effectively, thereby protecting the hardware, preventing failures, and guaranteeing the availability of the data center infrastructure. At the same time, other sensitive areas such as heat-sensitive battery rooms require precise temperatures. As a long-standing expert in critical infrastructure in data centers and in the air conditioning of server rooms, we at ENGIE Refrigeration are very familiar with the requirements of the IT industry – and we meet them. Our team is proving this with an order from a major European data center operator who is building a new data center campus in Germany. We are supporting this project with four QUANTUM chillers, each with a cooling capacity of two megawatts, two PENSUM chillers, and one SPECTRUM heat pump. While QUANTUM and PENSUM ensure the air conditioning of the server rooms, battery rooms, and office spaces, SPECTRUM in addition takes over the heating function.
Efficient air conditioning for server rooms
What do all these solutions have in common? Not only do they promise operational reliability and continuous supply to the data center thanks to their high performance, but they also run energy-efficiently throughout thanks to advanced technology. This is an important argument given the continuous load in the 24/7 operation of the data center campus – and a perfect match for our customer, who has ambitious emission targets. Another advantage of our technical concept is the Active Harmonic Filter, which is fitted to both the QUANTUM chillers and the SPECTRUM heat pump. This contributes to the grid quality and operational reliability of the data center's IT infrastructure, for example when air conditioning the server rooms. And since our expertise extends beyond technology to also include service, our team ensures the functionality of the chillers and heat pumps as part of a five-year service contract. These are ideal conditions for the long-term reliable and energy-efficient operation of the innovative data center campus!
