QUANTUM Water ensures sustainable building cooling in Berlin

In a high-rise building in a prime urban district in Berlin, four QUANTUM Water chillers with oil-free Turbo Compressors ensure sustainable cooling.

  • The cooling system comprises two QUANTUM Water units of type W1665 with a cooling capacity of 1,500 kilowatts each at 12/6 degrees Celsius and two QUANTUM Water units of type W1455 with a cooling capacity of 1,500 kilowatts each at 16/10 degrees Celsius.
  • The oil-free turbo compressors in the QUANTUM Water chillers contribute to the sustainable concept of the construction project.

A state-of-the-art urban quarter covering more than 100,000 square meters is being built in Berlin, offering a wide range of retail, fitness studios and restaurants, a 4D cinema, a museum, a food market and much more. In the middle of this urban complex stands a high-rise building 100 meters tall, which is undergoing extensive renovation to meet the high sustainability requirements of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum-certified project. A central component of the modernization is the efficient and environmentally friendly design of the building's cooling system. This is where our QUANTUM water chillers with oil-free turbo compressors come into play. With a total cooling capacity of 3,000 kilowatts at flow temperatures between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius and return temperatures between six and ten degrees Celsius, four water-cooled QUANTUM chillers ensure powerful and reliable cooling for the high-rise building.

Building cooling with oil-free Turbo Compressors

The use of our QUANTUM water chillers with oil-free turbo compressors offers many advantages that fully meet the customer's requirements for efficiency, sustainability, and economy: Firstly, oil-free turbo compressors operate much more efficiently in building cooling systems without the friction caused by lubricants. This increases the overall efficiency of the chiller and reduces energy consumption. Secondly, oil-free turbo compressors are environmentally friendly as they leave no oil residues in the circulation system. And thirdly, the oil-free design of our QUANTUM chillers requires less maintenance, which minimizes operating costs and extends the operating life of the entire chiller. A successful example of all-round successful building cooling in Germany's capital!
