Ship technology without chillers? Not with ENGIE Refrigeration. A total of eight MARENUM chillers are part of the standard equipment on two cruise ships.
Efficient refrigeration technology is needed to keep modern cruise liners on course in terms of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Chillers play an important role in many aspects of cruise ship equipment, whether for passenger comfort or for the safe, economical, and hygienic operation of the entire ship. As part of the ship technology, they air-condition cabins and public areas, cool food, maintain safety-related systems at the right temperature, and help reduce emissions and energy consumption. Our MARENUM chillers on two 200-meter-long cruise liners are a prime example of this. Four models on each of the two cruise ships guarantee a stable cooling capacity of ten megawatts, thereby contributing to the efficiency of the entire ship technology.
Efficient cruise ship equipment
In addition to reliable cooling performance, the high energy efficiency ratings prompted the customer to choose ENGIE Refrigeration chillers. This is because energy resources on board are limited, and energy-efficient ship technology means lower fuel consumption, fewer emissions, and greater cost-effectiveness. High-performance finned tubes for seawater resistance and adequate heat exchangers ensure efficient operation. A controllable 3-way valve guarantees trouble-free operation at seawater temperatures from -2 to 36 degrees Celsius. MARENUM also impresses with a well-thought-out maintenance concept that promises operational reliability and a long service life. This makes our chiller an indispensable efficiency factor in the equipment of cruise ships.
