Lindau, 30 September 2025 – ENGIE Refrigeration is expanding its international customer portfolio in the field of data centres and IT infrastructure: the leading cooling and heating specialist from Lindau on Lake Constance, Germany, has received two new major orders from data centre operators in Asia and Europe in recent months. For many years, ENGIE Refrigeration has been offering its customers highly specialised cooling and heating solutions for data centres that meet the demanding requirements for operational reliability and energy efficiency.

The demand for computing power and, consequently, for data centres is growing rapidly worldwide, driven in particular by the boom in artificial intelligence (AI) and the higher demands on computing power. This is accompanied by a growing need for cooling for data centres, which must meet high sustainability requirements in addition to maximum operational reliability. For this reason, a leading data centre operator from Korea now relies on
ENGIE Refrigeration: the cooling and heating specialist from Lindau on Lake Constance is supplying a total of 28 QUANTUM Air chillers with a total cooling capacity of 58.8 megawatts to the data centre, which is specially designed for AI applications. The solution is particularly notable for its precise performance in partial load and free cooling mode, oil-free technology, ultra-quiet operation and excellent efficiency values. The customer will also receive an innovative switch cabinet and control concept tailored to their requirements to ensure maximum operational reliability and energy efficiency. ENGIE Refrigeration is implementing the major order on site with a regional sales partner; this is already the sixth data centre location in Korea to be jointly managed, marking the expansion of a successful partnership. In-depth expertise for data centres

ENGIE Refrigeration is also currently working on a complex data centre project in Europe: the team of experts is installing a total of 16 QUANTUM water chillers with a total cooling capacity of 36.8 megawatts at the site in the Netherlands for an international company. Each chiller is housed in a GENIUM cooling container, which features additional soundproofing measures to ensure compliance with the very strict local noise regulations of 70 decibels sound power level at the new data centre. The customer thus benefits from a turnkey, fully equipped container solution that replaces a machine room with all the safety equipment required for the application and is characterised by maximum performance, efficiency and operational reliability. Jochen Hornung, CEO of ENGIE Refrigeration, says: "We at ENGIE Refrigeration are proud to contribute our many years of expertise to two new major contracts in the international data centre industry. In both projects, our focus is on providing customers with future-proof cooling solutions tailored to their individual on-site requirements. With our innovative solutions, we meet all the requirements for reliability, efficiency and sustainability that are particularly demanding in the data centre industry." The cooling and heating of data centres and IT buildings has been one of ENGIE Refrigeration's areas of expertise for many years. The product portfolio includes specialised chillers and industrial heat pumps for every application – from reliable cooling and heating for high-performance data centres to particularly sustainable concepts with heat recovery (Green Heat Recovery) and innovative solutions for edge data centres.
