Industrial air-water heat pump: PENSUM Air Reversible Heat
Add to Bookmarks
Heat and cooling with just one system – that's what PENSUM Air Reversible Heat offers. In summer, our air-water heat pumps provide pleasant cooling in industrial settings. In winter, they ensure the desired warmth with flow temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius. This not only saves you asset costs, but also protects the environment.

The ideal air-water heat pump for industry
PENSUM Air Reversible Heat extracts energy from the ambient air as a renewable energy source for heating and cooling. The models in this series of low-temperature air-to-water heat pumps are particularly cost-efficient, quiet and achieve energy efficiency class A++ (according to EU 811/2013). With a power range of 50 to 400 kilowatts, the series is particularly suitable for use in office buildings and public facilities.
All PENSUM Air models use the future-proof refrigerant R-454B, which has a low GWP value of 466. This means that it is already below the average GWP of <500 specified by the 2030 F-gas Regulation. If you choose a machine with R-454B, the impact on the environment is reduced by 78 percent compared to a machine with R-410A refrigerant.
Our air-to-water heat pumps impress in industrial applications with their sophisticated design and high-quality components, including:
Housing
Compact housing with easy access for faster maintenance work
Standard colour finish in Silverline, optionally available in Blackline
Refrigeration circuit
Scroll compressors as the optimal solution in terms of high performance and reliability
Plate heat exchangers enable high performance with minimal refrigerant content
Electronic expansion valve for precise control, reduced power losses and improved part load operation
A2L refrigerant safety measures, including refrigerant leak sensors, additional control cabinet ventilation and overpressure control
Fans
AC fans with phase control for optimum air flow and maximum efficiency; optionally available with fans including EC motor for up to four percent better ESEER
To reduce noise emissions at night, a reduced air flow can be set (night setback).
Control panel
Multilingual, graphical LCD display for quick diagnostics, simple parameter settings and optionally available as an additional control unit for installation in a separate technical room
Control technology
Communication with building management systems or remote access possible
Seven different master-slave logics for up to six PENSUM Air chillers
At outdoor temperatures around the freezing point, heat exchangers of air-to-water heat pumps tend to ice up. To prevent the ice from impeding heat transfer and causing performance drops, PENSUM Air Reversible Heat automatically activates a defrost programme. The hot gas defrosting method used is not only safe and fast, but also has a better energy balance than an electric heating element, for example.
Our air-to-water heat pumps rarely come alone. We offer many expansion options for PENSUM Air Reversible Heat:
Energy-saving options
EC fans: The motor and electronics are optimally coordinated and improve the ESEER value by up to four percent.
Green heat recovery: In cooling mode, heat recovery of up to 40 percent of the output is possible – with temperatures of up to 55 degrees Celsius.
Hydraulic options
The integrated hydraulic module comes with the most important hydraulic components already installed in the factory and is available in various configurations – saving time and costs during commissioning (plug & play).
One or two high-pressure or low-pressure pumps, optionally in standby or simultaneous operation, including an expansion vessel or buffer tank.
Glycol safety collection system: not only provides safety in the event of an accident, but also prevents oils and water-glycol mixtures from being washed out, e.g. by rain
Options for communication with building management systems: Ethernet interface and serial connection to networks that use the Carel Modbus RTU or LonWorks protocol
